Who we are
Line Reading is operated by Rebel Labs, a company
registered in Quebec, Canada. We are the party responsible for the
personal information described on this page.
Reach us at hello@linereading.com.
What we collect
Deliberately little. There is no analytics script, no advertising
tracker, and no third-party code running on these pages.
- Your email address, when you sign in or ask us to
email you a finished table read.
- The file you upload and what we derive from it —
the character names, the dialogue, the page count.
- Your casting choices: which voice you gave to which
character, so a later draft can open with the same company.
- A record of your purchase — amount, date, and
Stripe's reference for it.
- Ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses,
kept short and used for security and debugging.
We never see your card. Payment happens on Stripe's
own checkout page. Your card number does not pass through our servers
and we could not store it if we wanted to.
Your screenplay
This is the part that matters, so it gets its own section.
- Your script is read by software, not by people. No
human at Line Reading opens it — unless you write to us asking for help
with a specific script, in which case we look at that one script to
answer you.
- It is never used to train any model, ours or
anyone else's, and it is never sold, licensed, or shared for any
purpose other than producing the audio you asked for.
- It is never published or listed. Nothing you upload
appears in a search engine, a gallery, or any list another customer
can see.
- Its page is reached by a long unguessable link.
Because an account is optional, that link is what proves the page is
yours — the same way the download link in your email works. Treat it
as private: anyone you send it to can listen. Sign in and the reading
is tied to your account as well.
One thing you should know. To produce the audio, the
dialogue and action lines are sent to our speech provider,
ElevenLabs, to be spoken. That is unavoidable — it is how the voices
exist. Under our agreement with them your text is processed to
generate your audio and is not used to train their models. If sending
your text to a third party is not acceptable for a particular
project, do not upload it.
Signing in with Google
If you use the Google button, we ask Google for exactly two things:
that you are signed in, and your email address. That is
the whole of it. We request only the openid and
email scopes.
We do not receive and cannot access your Google password, your contacts,
your Drive, your calendar, or anything else in your Google account. The
email address is used to identify your account here and to send you your
finished table read — nothing more. We accept it only if Google confirms
the address is verified.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of services to run the product. Each one gets only
what it needs to do its job, and none of them may use your information
for their own purposes.
- Stripe — payments. Handles your card directly; we
receive only a confirmation and the last four digits.
- ElevenLabs — speech synthesis. Receives the text to
be spoken.
- Resend — email delivery. Receives your address and
the message.
- Railway — hosting. The servers and storage the
product runs on.
These providers operate outside Quebec, principally in the United
States, so your information is processed there. We will also disclose
information if the law genuinely requires it — and we do not treat an
informal request as a legal requirement.
We do not sell personal information. There is no arrangement under
which anyone pays us for it.
How long we keep it
- Scripts and audio: 30 days, then deleted
automatically. An account extends this, it does not abolish it — the
countdown is shown on your screenplays page.
- Your account and casting choices: until you ask us
to delete them.
- Purchase records: kept as long as tax and
accounting law requires, which in Canada is six years. This is the one
category we cannot delete on request.
- Server logs: a short rolling window.
Marketing email
We email you about your own order — that your table
read is ready, or your sign-in link — because you asked us to make it.
That is not marketing and you cannot be opted out of it while an order
is running.
Anything else, we send only if you ticked the box. The
box is never pre-ticked. Every marketing message carries a one-click
unsubscribe, and we keep a record of when and where you agreed so that
we can show it if asked.
Cookies and measurement
One cookie, and it exists so that you stay signed in. It holds a signed
session identifier and nothing else. There are no advertising cookies
and no cross-site trackers.
We do measure traffic, using Cloudflare Web Analytics.
It records the page visited, roughly where in the world the request came
from, and how quickly the page loaded. It sets no cookies,
builds no profile, follows you to no other site, and cannot see your
screenplay. That is the whole of it, and it is why you have not been
shown a consent banner — there is no tracking to consent to.
Your rights
Under Quebec's Law 25 and, if you are in Europe, the GDPR, you may
ask what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted,
receive a copy of it, or withdraw your consent at any time.
Email us and we will do it. We do not require you to explain why, and
exercising any of these rights will never affect the service you
receive.
If you think we have handled your information badly, you are entitled to
complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or to your
own data protection authority if you are in Europe. We would rather you
told us first, but that is your call, not ours.
